Tigers Fall to Westmont

WESTMONT, Calif. (Jan. 4, 2007) – Despite each team posting 39 second half points, a slow start hurt the Tigers, who dropped a 81-62 contest to NAIA Westmont College on the road tonight.
Turnovers hurt the Occidental as Westmont was able to convert 18 Tiger turnovers into 31 points. Although Westmont had the edge rebounding (33-30) Oxy was able to grab 17 offensive boards, which led to 15 Tigers’ points.
Brianne Brown led the charge for Occidental with a 19-point performance. Stacie Roshon followed with 13 points. Britinee Yasukochi tallied four assists for Oxy.
Defensively, Stephanie Babij grabbed a game-high eight rebounds, four on each end of the court.
Westmont’s Jessica Case was the leading scorer with 22.
The Tigers never held a lead in the game and fall to 7-3 on the season entering Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play.
Oxy will open SCIAC competition with a 7:30 p.m. tip off at the University of La Verne on Thursday, Jan. 10, 2008.
