LOS ANGELES, Calif. – The women's basketball playoff bracket was announced this morning by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). The Tigers will face George Fox University at Chapman University on Friday, March 4.

In a familiar setting, the Tigers will travel to Orange, Calif. where they made their first NCAA Playoff Appearance in 2009, falling to the Panthers. In 2011, however, Occidental (19-8) will face 2009 National Champion George Fox University (22-5) who earned the league's Automatic bid by defeating Lewis & Clark, 76-68, in overtime, to win the Northwest Conference Tournament Championship game on Saturday, Feb. 26.

Friday will mark the first meeting between Occidental and George Fox. This will be the fifth consecutive year and eighth time overall in the NCAA Tournament for the Bruins, who own a 15-6 record in post season play with five "Sweet 16" and three "Elite 8" appearances as well as the 2008-09 National Title.

Entering the Playoffs Oxy has won eight straight and George Fox is currently riding an 11-game win-streak.

Chapman will play Louisiana College (24-3) who rounds out the four-team pod.

Over the weekend Chapman erased an eight-point deficit to earn a 65-61 victory over Nebraska Wesleyan University at the University of Dallas (TX) to capture the Division III Independents West Region championship.

The host squad will play No. 17 Louisiana College, as announced by the USA Today/ESPN Coaches poll on Tuesday. Louisiana College, from Pineville, La., received a Pool C At-Large bid after losing 83-69 at Howard Payne in the finals of the American Southwest Conference (ASC) Tournament in Brownwood, TX.  The Wildcats made their first NCAA appearance last year and lost to George Fox in the first round 65-49 on March 5, the only time the two have ever met.

Friday will mark the first time that Chapman will play Louisiana College.

The Panthers last made the playoffs in 2009 when they defeated Occidental 70-65 at home before losing to George Fox in the second round. This is Chapman's tenth NCAA postseason appearance in the last 11 years and seventh under head coach Carol Jue.
