Anderson Scores Game-High 16 Points Against Hawks

LOS ANGELES — Triana Anderson scored a game-high 16 points off the bench to keep the Tigers alive, but the Occidental women's basketball team couldn't overcome a slow start and fell to the San Diego Christian Hawks 61-56 on Tuesday night.

Anderson made the most of her time on the court, going 4-6 from the field with a 3-pointer and 7-7 from the line. The sophomore guard also grabbed a team-high seven rebounds. 

Berika Egberuare led the Hawks with 14 points and Whitnery Braeutigam scored 12 points.

Dru Ishibashi got the Tigers to within one when she knocked down a shot from beyond the arc with 8:40 left in the 3rd quarter. But San Diego Christian's Kaylie Fandino responded with a three of her own to end the threat. 

Two other Tigers finished with double digits. Ciara Byrne scored 12 points and Erin Matsumoto had 10 points. Byrne grabbed six boards and Matsumoto had four steals. 

Season Impact: Oxy falls to 0-2 on the year. San Diego Christian improves to 3-1 .

Next Game: The Tigers are back in action on Saturday, hosting St. Catherine at 2 p.m.
