Green, Tigers Explode in 4th For Win

LOS ANGELES — The Occidental Women's basketball team evened up their record with a 71-62 win over the Caltech Beavers in a Wednesday-night SCIAC match-up at Rush Gymnasium.

While the Beavers played well through three quarters, a 34-point offensive explosion in the fourth proved to be the deciding factor for the Tigers. Entering the final quarter down 10, the Tigers scored 16 straight to grab the lead for the first time since early in the first. In the period, Oxy shot a collective 10-15 from the field, 2-2 from behind the arc, and 12-13 from the line. 

Sophomore stand-outs, Shariah Green and Emily Leonard, both had impressive nights, scoring 16 and 14 points respectively, making big plays on both sides of the ball for the Tigers. 

Triana Anderson continued her strong senior campaign with 13 points and 5 assists and first year guard, Alyssa Ramlochan, turned in another solid game with 11 points, 9 rebounds, and 5 assists. 

Madison Toy and Grace Baranowski both added 6 points for the Tigers.

Caltech's Elizabeth Eiden, had a big game for the beavers scoring 20 points, grabbing 8 boards, and blocking 7 shots. Samantha D'Costa added 17 points and 6 rebounds in the Beavers loss. 

Season Impact: Oxy improves to 11-11 overall and 5-8 in SCIAC. Caltech drops to 4-17 on the season and 2-11 in conference. 

Looking Ahead: In their final home game of the season, the Tigers will face-off against the Whittier Poets this Sunday at 4PM in Rush Gymnasium.
