Leon Wins Second Straight Match
REDLANDS, Calif. (Feb. 22, 2009) – Coming off an opening
match win at the beginning of February at the CMS Invitational,
sophomore golfer Tori Leon again shot a match low
at the Lady Bulldog Classic this weekend hosted by the University
of Redlands at the Yucaipa Valley Golf Club.
As the lone Tiger playing, Leon shot a combined 165, leading the
pack of 27 women. On day one of competition she went out with a
41on the front nine and finished with a 42 on the back nine. Sunday
Leon remained consistent, shooting a 41 on both the first nine and
last nine holes. She finished one stroke ahead, to claim her second
tournament victory of 2009.
UC Santa Cruz won the classic (693) followed by George Fox
University (OR) with a 706 while Claremont-Mudd-Scripps finished in
third (729) and Redlands ended up in fourth with a 740-stroke
total.
Next up on the women’s golf agenda is the SCIAC #1 in
Pasadena, scheduled for Monday, March 2 with golfers teeing off at
noon.
