Women's Golf Finishes Sixth in SCIAC

OAK VALLEYKristin Oberiano finished one place outside the top 10 as the Occidental women's golf team took sixth at the SCIAC Championship and sixth in the overall conference stroke standings.

Oberiano improved one stroke per day, shooting a 9-over 81 during Round 1, an 80 in Round 2 and a 79 to finish out the 54-hole competition in 11th place on Tuesday.

Samantha Rocha was Oxy's second best and the 26th best individual at 255 (85/88/82), Michelle Kong was third and 28th at 256 (85/84/87) and Katy Uchiyama was fourth with a 269 (87/95/87).

Redlands won the women's competition and had the low medalist. Caroline Ordian was the best woman with a total score of 224 (77/75/72).

Pomona-Pitzer's Tiffany Gu was the conference's sportsmanship award.
