SAN DIMAS — Samantha Rocha led the Occidental women's golf team with a 15th-place finish at SCIAC No. 1 at the San Dimas Golf Club on Saturday and Sunday.
Rocha shot a pair of 86s in the two-day, two-round event, scoring 28-over 172 on the weekend.
Katy Uchiyama was Oxy's second-best scorer, shooting 185 for 30th place.
Margaret Loncki was the low medalist at 153.
From the Coach: "I'm proud of our players," Oxy head coach Will Morris said. "We played a difficult course in some challenging conditions. I've always viewed the first round of competition as getting the rust off and no matter how much you practice there isn't anything like teeing it up against conference competitors. It's early in the season and we will continue to improve."
SCIAC Scoring: In conference competition, the total standings are made up of each school's total stroke score after each of the seven rounds. There are two more rounds at SCIAC No. 2 on April 8-9 and three at the SCIAC Championships on April 23-25.
The Tigers are currently in seventh as a group.
Next Round: Oxy is back in action at the Cal Lutheran Invitational on March 13-14 at Sunset Hills GC.Follow Oxy Athletics on Twitter Sign Up for Newsletters Watch on Youtube Follow us on Instagram
