CHINO HILLS — Samantha Rocha tied for first place at the Whittier Invitational with a 4-over 78 at the one-day event on Saturday.
Rocha, a junior co-captain from Downey, bounced back well after missing the last month of the season last year due to illness.
"Sam is such a solid player," Oxy head coach Will Morris said. "For her to lead our resurgence was a joy to see. We're looking forward to her having a fantastic season."
Oxy first year Vivian Sun had a solid first outing, shooting 80.
"It was a nice start to what we hope and think will be a very successful career at Oxy," Morris said.
Oxy finished third out of four SCIAC teams. Whittier, Pomona and Chapman rounded out the field.
Pomona took first as a group.
Oxy added a recruiting class full of athletic players to an already athletic group. Lundquist and Sun were both high school basketball stars, and Amos was All-Conference in hockey and soccer, along with golf.
The group joins players like Rocha, who gave up a promising softball career to focus on golf.
Next Round: Oxy's next event will be SCIAC No. 1 on Feb. 24-25 hosted by Redlands at Arrowhead Country Club in San Bernardino.Follow Oxy Athletics on Twitter Sign Up for Newsletters Watch on Youtube Follow us on Instagram
