LOS ANGELES — The Occidental women's golf team is ranked No. 22 in the Golfstat National Poll. It's the highest ranking the program has ever received.
"We are honored to be recognized with our highest ranking program history. It's testament to our players hard work, dedication and talent," Oxy head coach Will Morris said. "We are looking forward to an exciting spring season of golf against some of the best teams in the country."
The SCIAC is well represented in the ranking with seven teams featured in the top 30. Pomona-Pitzer is the highest ranked SCIAC school at No. 7, Redlands is right behind them at 9, Whittier is No. 10, reigning national champion Claremont-Mudd-Scripps is No. 13, Cal Lutheran is No. 25 and Chapman is No. 29.
The Tigers are led by senior and co-captain Samantha Rocha from Downey, who is ranked No. 44 in the country, first year Brianna Kim from La Miranda, who is ranked No. 19 and, Anna Lundquist, a sophomore from Lake Stevens, Wash. who is ranked No. 71.
Earlier this fall, Oxy posted its program low of 313 in a matchup against Marymount.
