Jacqueline McDevitt joins Tigers’ coaching staff

LOS ANGELES, Calif. (Dec. 8, 2009) – Occidental College women’s head coach Michele Uhlfelder announced today the hiring of Jacqueline McDevitt as the first assistant coach in the history of the women’s lacrosse program.

McDevitt, a 2006 Graduate of Long Island University-Brooklyn Campus, earned dual degrees in Marketing and Management from the LIU School of Business. A three year letter winner on the women’s lacrosse team from 2003-2006, she was hailed as a tenacious defender, being nationally ranked in ground balls her senior year. Her transition from playing to coaching has been a smooth one and she will certainly benefit the Occidental lacrosse program.

Post-collegiate playing experience includes Gotham Women’s Lacrosse Club in NYC, playing in the Women’s National Tournament on the New York Regional Team and as an exhibition player for the Irish National Team based out of Long Island.

From 2006-2008, McDevitt spent two seasons as the first assistant for the Marist College Red Foxes in Poughkeepsie, NY. Primary duties were practice and game planning, Mid-Atlantic regional recruiter and coach of the goalies and defense. While at Marist, she mentored and coached the Marist goalkeeper who garnished MAAC All-Tournament Team, Second Team All-MAAC, MAAC All-Academic Team and ranked 12th in the NCAA Division I in save percentage (.514).

Beyond the collegiate ranks, McDevitt has extensive camp experience including Northwestern’s Milton Elite Camp, University of Virginia’s Fast Break Camp, John’s Hopkins Elite 300 Camp, Michele Uhlfelder’s Coast2Coast Camps, Danielle Gallagher’s Black Diamond Camps, and Kathy Jenkins’ Triple Threat Camps.

Most recently, McDevitt held the position of deBeer Lacrosse Women’s Brand Manager. Hired in February of 2008, her primary responsibilities were to oversee 25 NCAA lacrosse teams’ equipment needs, direct the procurement of sponsorship and promotion, grass roots events as well as maximize brand exposure, product development, research and design in addition to social media and marketing and community outreach.

During the spring of 2008, McDevitt was the volunteer assistant of the Union College Dutchwomen in Scanectady, NY who are ranked #8 in the nation by NCAA. McDevitt worked primarily with the goalies and the Union goalkeeper was named to the IWLCA All Region and Liberty League All Star teams. She was ranked third in NCAA Division III in goals against average with a 7.26 goals against average and was 13-4 with a save percentage of .526, which ranked 14th in the nation.

Earlier this year, McDevitt started LeftCoastLaxin, her own lacrosse company, which will be the platform for lacrosse events, teams and spreading the game she loves to female athletes on the West coast.
