WLAX STREAK AT 10, TIGERS BEAT WHITTIERBy Michael Wells Sports Information Director
WHITTIER — Tori Larson (Denver), Sarah Kessler (Portland, Ore.) and Rebecca Belding (Burlingame) each scored four goals and the Occidental College women's lacrosse team extended its longest winning streak in program history to double digits, winning 20-9 at Whittier College on Saturday.
Oxy (10-1, 4-1 SCIAC), which hasn't lost since dropping its first game of the season to undefeated Redlands, 13-7 on Feb. 15, has now won 10 games in a row.
And they did it continuing their hot offensive play while away from Jack Kemp Stadium for the first time since February.
The Tigers move to 2-0 on the road and have now scored 20 or more goals for the third consecutive game — Oxy beat Allegheny 21-12 on March 22 and North Central 20-12 on March 20.
Lauren Wemple (Needham, Mass.) improved her team-best assist total to 23 with three against the Poets, to go along with a pair of goals.
Dana Barraco led Whittier (4-9, 0-5 SCIAC) with three.
The Tigers continue their three-game road stretch at Redlands on April 11 in a battle for first place in the SCIAC standings.
