"Our team made plays when we had to," Oxy head coach Stephanie Janice, who picked up her first career win as the Tigers head coach. Prior to Oxy, Janice was the winningest coach in Allegheny College history before joining the Tigers in the summer. "We're still figuring each other out, but we have leaders stepping up."
One of the heroes for the Tigers was Brita Loeb, who earned Oxy key possessions by controlling eight draws.
"It was a team effort tonight, but the draws by Brita were huge," Janice said.
The Tigers had eight different players score goals.
"We had to find a rhythm on attack, which we did," Janice said. "We're a team offense where anyone can score and step up if necessary."
The Tigers never trailed, opening up a six-goal lead just after halftime when Larson and Wright put away back-to-back goals. Oxy pushed its lead to as many as eight goals before the Panthers added two in the final minute.
Lauren Mah, Kylee Moore, Gretchen Rodenberger, Allison Camp and Allie Konty all had a pair of goals for Chapman.
Kirsten Hee made four saves in all 60 minutes played as Oxy's goalie.
The Tigers are back in action against Redlands in their home opener at Jack Kemp Stadium on Feb. 12 at 7 p.m.
