LOS ANGELES — Four Occidental women's lacrosse players were named All-SCIAC on Friday. Sierra Slack, Ciara Byrne and Emma Barrow were named to the First Team, and Alessandra Pelliccia was named to the second team. Annie Stevens was named to the All-Sportsmanship team.
Barrow was known as one of the best defenders in the league, causing problems and disrupting the other team's offense. She ranked eighth in ground balls at 23 and seventh in caused turnovers with 15.
Byrne and Slack lit it up on offense for Oxy as the most dominant 1-2 scoring punch in the SCIAC. Slack led the conference in points at 58 and Byrne was second with 49. Byrne led in goals with 47 and Slack was second with 42.
Slack, a senior from Vorhess, N.J., was a candidate for Offensive Player of the Year, leading the conference with three SCIAC Women's Lacrosse Player of the Week honors. It is her fourth All-SCIAC selection and third on the first team.
Byrne makes the team for the second time and Barrow earns her second First Team honor.
Pelliccia was the SCIAC Offensive Player of the Year last season in her rookie campaign.
