Tigers Punch Post Season Ticket

LOS ANGELES, Calif. (Oct. 31, 2007) – They found themselves among the top teams in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference all season. After finishing second in the conference the women’s soccer team at Occidental has taken the first step towards advancing to the NCAA Division III Tournament.
Claremont-Mudd-Scripps will host both games at Pritzlaff Field on Thursday, Nov. 1.
With an overall record of 10-6 and a SCIAC mark of 9-3 the Tigers will face the University of Redlands (9-5-3; 7-4-1 SCIAC) in the first round game. The teams will kick off at 7:30 p.m.
Prior to the start of the Oxy-UR game the top seeded and host CMS Athenas (13-5; 10-2 SCIAC) will meet the Cal Lutheran Regals (7-10-3; 6-4-2 SCIAC) on the Field at 5:00 p.m.
While the other three teams appeared in the first Annual SCIAC Women’s Soccer Championship Tournament a year ago, the Tigers will make their first trip in 2007.
Occidental has been led all season by senior forward Adrienne Spivak and freshman forward Jesi Sasaki who finished the regular season with five and seven goals respectively.
During the season the Tigers held a four-game win streak and won seven of eight at one point.
The highest seeded team remaining following the first day of games will host the Championship game on Saturday, Nov. 3 at noon.
