Four Tigers Named to All-West Region Squad

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Dec. 17, 2007) – Announced today four members of the Occidental College women’s soccer team were named to 2007 National Soccer Coaches Association of America / adidas All-West Region Teams.
Jesi Sasaki earned First Team honors following a record setting season. She was named the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Year, marking the first time a freshman has earned that honor. The forward scored seven goals, adding four assists during her first season.
Tying Sasaki for the team lead with goals scored was fellow freshman Corrinne Winkler who was named to the Second Team. Winkler also garnered First Team All-SCIAC accolades following the season.
Additionally, senior Melissa Warner and sophomore Marci Kang, earned Third Team recognition after being named to the Second Team All-SCIAC. Guarding the goal, Warner, started all but one game and allowed less than a goal per game against SCIAC opponents. Leading the defense Kang started every game during her second season.
These women led the Tigers to a second place conference finish with an overall record of 9-3. They finished 11-5-1 overall.
