Tiger Trio Earn All-SCIAC Recognition

LOS ANGELES, Calif. (Dec. 1, 2008) – Occidental College had three women’s soccer players land on the All-SCIAC teams in 2008. Earning First Team honors was junior Marci Kang while the sophomore-freshman duo of Season Falkler-Rodriguez and Alex McHenry garnered Second Team recognition.

Kang started all 13 games she appeared in and scored one goal on just five shots (three on goal). Her defensive presence was a challenge for the opposition all season long.

Another defender who played a vital role this year was Falkler-Rodriguez who started 13 of the 14 games she appeared in. Her quickness and agility allowed her to beat her opponents down the field. She added one goal in 11 shots on goal during her sophomore campaign.

Rounding out the Tigers’ award winners was McHenry, a freshman who played 14 games this season for Oxy, starting 11. She scored just one goal, but it was a game winner against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, who was previously unbeaten in SCIAC at that time. McHenry fired off eight shots, five on goal in her first collegiate season.

The Tigers finished the season 6-9 overall, 5-7 in SCIAC play, placing them sixth in the conference standings.
