PASADENA — The Occidental women's soccer team cruised past Caltech 7-0 in a non-conference match in Pasadena on Thursday.
After Oxy's season-opener against Antellope Valley was ruled a non-contest due to a power outage that left the teams without lights last Saturday, this becomes Oxy's first official match.
It is the first time the Tigers and Beavers have competed against each other in women's soccer and the first year Caltech has had a team. The Beavers will join the conference in the sport of women's soccer soon.
Elleni Bekele and Meredith Cook led Oxy with two goals apiece. Erin Iacullo, Molly Callans, and Jasmine Davis all scored one goal, rounding out the Tigers' scorers. Cambrie Motooka, Megan Maher, Alexandria Yawata, Berkli Maningo and Dru Ishibashi all recorded assists.
The Tigers return to play on Saturday at Soka at 6 p.m. in their final non-conference contest before opening SCIAC play against Whittier.Follow Oxy Athletics on Twitter Sign Up for Newsletters Watch on Youtube Follow us on Instagram
