Colm McFeely enters his seventh year as the head coach of the women's soccer program, but his long history with Occidental soccer dates back to 1992. After five years at the helm of the men's soccer program, McFeely has handed the reigns over to DJ Waddington, but will remain the Soccer Coordinator for both the men's and women's programs.
His 17-year playing career included around 500 competitive games
in his native Ireland, Australia, and Hong Kong. He has won an
Irish Division I league championship medal, played in the European
Champions' Cup Competition, and was a Hong Kong All-League
selection from 1974-80.
Holder of a FIFA coaching license, McFeely also coached for more
than 10 years in Hong Kong, where he founded the Hong Kong Harps
Football Club. As player/coach, he led the Harps from Division 3 to
Division I status in three years, the only Hong Kong coach ever to
achieve that feat.
McFeely has been on the CYSA-S Olympic Development Program (ODP)
coaching staff for almost 10 years and helped coach the 2000 U16
Boys and the 2001 U18 Boys to ODP National Championship victories.
A number of these players went on to represent the USA at various
national team levels. McFeely also coached the Notre Dame HS boys
program for 10 years and in 1993 was selected NSCAA/UMBRO State
Coach of the Year for California.
