Swimming & Diving Begins SCIAC Slate
LOS ANGELES, Calif. (Dec 30, 2006) -
Occidental men's and women's swimming & diving
defeated the University of La Verne Dec. 2 before losing to
Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Dec. 3 at Taylor Pool. The men's
meet with CMS was close right until the end with a number of
Tigers winning events.
The women were led by sophomore diver Celeste Faber, who
won the one and three-meter competitions in
both meets. Faber was joined by Kelsey Fuller '10, who
won the 100 Fly against ULV and turned in solid performances vs.
CMS in the 200 individual medley and 200 butterfly.
First-year Katie Brush logged a much-improved time in the 200
breaststroke.
On the men's side, the story continues to be the Dohring twins,
Jon and Robert, who finished 1 & 2 vs. both ULV and CMS
and turned in NCAA Championship qualifying scores on both
boards. Adam Kantor '10 stole the 50 freestyle against CMS
but came up short in the 100 despite a blistering
49.13. Two-time All-American Dickson Fai '08 won all
his events and remains largely untested against SCIAC
competition.
Occidental returns to action Jan. 5 with a non-conference dual meet
against NCAA Division II Westminster College (PA) at Taylor
Pool. The meet is scheduled for a 1pm start.
