Tigers Fall to #15 Bears

LOS ANGELES, CALIF.  (Mar. 8, 2009) – Oxy opened up their spring break schedule with the #15 ranked team in the country, Washington University in St. Louis, who traveled to Los Angeles to take on several area programs.  The Tigers did not fare well in the national match up, falling 9-0 to the Bears.

Jen Wahba and Kris Subbiah opened the day with a stellar doubles match, against the number one doubles team from Washington.  Holding on against several break points, but never being broken, tying the match up at eight to force a tiebreaker.  Unfortunately, the Bears tandem took that game 7-4.

Subbiah also put together the best showing in the singles matches, falling 5-7, 3-6 to the number one singles player.  Overall, though, the Bears dominated the Tigers.  But the tough competition is a great measuring stick to see what the program needs to work on to move onto the national stage.

Oxy (2-6) now faces an east coast opponent as they host Vassar College on Monday, March 9th at 11am.
