Oxy Women's Tennis Hosts Annual Round Robin Tournament

LOS ANGELES, Calif. (Oct. 22, 2009) - On Saturday, October 10, 2009, the Occidental Women's Tennis Team hosted their annual Round Robin tournament and BBQ dinner.  This year's winners were Ghia Godfree and Oxy player Rachel Washtien.  They defeated Sally Wiggins and Oxy player Katrina Gould in the final round. 

Athletic Director Jaime Hoffman and Head Basketball Coach Brian Newhall showed their support, along with Oxy art professor Dr. Linda Lyke and former player Amy Marcus-Newhall.  Current players enjoyed meeting and playing with Yvonne Pederson (former player on the Oxy team that went to Nationals several times), who keeps her game sharp by playing on a USTA team. 

After the round robin, players and supporters gathered for a BBQ dinner, provided by the Costa family from Sierra Madre.  The Go family, from Los Angeles, was present to help cook as well!

The day of tennis and food went well, but the festivities weren't over, as participants would be treated to a home football game that would eventually go our way with a 27-24 overtime win against Redlands!
