Inclement weather postpones softball season opener, tennis canceled

LOS ANGELES, Calif. (Feb. 5, 2010) A storm traveling through Southern California has forced the Occidental College softball team to postpone their season opener while the womens tennis match against UC Riverside scheduled for Saturday has been canceled.

Three standout Occidental athletes have been named to the inaugural class of the Los Angeles Unified School Districts Athletic Hall of Fame: Pat Henry Yeomans 38 in tennis, Sammy Lee 43 in diving, and Jack Kemp 57 in football.
LOS ANGELES, Calif. (Jan. 30, 2010) Oxy is coming off a third place finish in the SCIAC, a year ago, and opened the 2010 season and conference by hosting the Cal Lu Regals. The Regals tied for third last season, as well, but got the best of the Tigers today. Dominating the doubles portion of the dual match and held off the Tigers in singles to pick up the victory.
LOS ANGELES, Calif. (Oct. 22, 2009) On Saturday, October 10, 2009, the Occidental Womens Tennis Team hosted their annual Round Robin tournament and BBQ dinner. This years winners were Ghia Godfree and Oxy player, Rachel Washtien. They defeated Sally Wiggins and Oxy player, Katrina Gould in the final round.
LOS ANGELES, Calif. (July 30, 2009) - Women's tennis pioneer and former national junior tennis champion Patricia Henry Yeomans '38 has been inducted into not one, but two halls of fame by the Southern California Tennis Association this summer.
OJAI, Calif. (April 25, 2009) After finishing third at the SCIAC conference tournament a week ago, Oxy was well represented in the 109th Ojai Valley Tournament by Krishnaveni Subbiah (All-SCIAC 1st Team selection), Sophomore Isabelle Ying, and Freshman Briana Cartwright. The event brings together the top 64 singles and doubles team in the west region, regardless of division, which made for some great tennis all weekend.
LOS ANGELES, Calif. (April 20, 2009) The womens tennis team posted a very successful spring in which they placed fourth overall. Three players garnered All-SCIAC recognition including senior Jennifer Wahba, junior Marissa Cassman and freshman Krishnaveni Subbiah.
CLAREMONT, Calif. (April 18, 2009) In an emotional weekend the Occidental College womens tennis team used a loss on the road to Cal Lutheran last week as motivation and the No. 4 seeded Tigers upset the No. 3 seeded Regals winning 6-3 to move up in the overall standings at the 2009 Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championships hosted by Claremont-Mudd-Scripps this weekend.
