Tigers Beat Golden Eagles, Snap Losing Streak

RIVERSIDE, Calif. (October 9, 2007) - Occidental College women's volleyball snapped a four match losing streak with a 3-0 victory over non-conference La Sierra University tonight on the road with game scores of 30-16, 30-17 and 30-26.

Ashley Rosenbaum and Chelsea Johnson recorded a match high nine kills for the Tigers and Golden Eagles respectively. Sonia Huizar and Lehela Cleveland each totaled six kills for Oxy. Doing the majority of the setting tonight was Ginger Grimes who finished with 16. Defensively Kathryn Bockmon recorded 10 digs and added two service aces. Shannon Klebe also finished the night with a pair of service aces.

In the first game the Tigers accumulated a .375 team hitting percentage with 10 kills in 24 attempts with just one error.

With the win Occidental's record climbs to 5-8, 2-6 SCIAC.

Occidental will return to Rush Gymnasium on Saturday, Oct. 13 when they host non-conference Chapman University at 1:00 p.m.
