Panthers Get Most of Tigers

ORANGE, Calif.(Sept. 18, 2008) – In the final non-conference match of the season for the Occidental College Tigers they fell 3-0 to the Chapman University Panthers on the road.

Chapman ran off with the first two games 25-26 and 25-15 before Occidental made the third game competitive before the Panthers put it away 25-22.

Kaitlin McAndrews led the Tigers with five kills and Kathryn Bockmon added four. Bockmon also led Oxy with 16 assists and two service aces. Kate Meyer also added a pair of service aces.

Defensively Ginger Grimes recorded 12 digs and Lisa Fukuzato finished with seven. Allie Brown, Ashley Rosenbaum and McAndrews each had four block assists tonight. Oxy out blocked Chapman 8.5 to 3.0.

Chapman’s Jill Felger, Kat Kowalski and Linda Ly had match highs with 15 digs, 39 assists and 16 digs, respectively.

Oxy falls to 1-1 while the Panthers improve to 7-5 on the season.

The Tigers will open conference play on the road against Redlands on Tuesday night Sept. 23 at 7:30 p.m.
