2007 Season Underway--Oxy Opens at #6
LOS ANGELES, Calif. (January 1, 2007) - Coming off one of the best seasons in program history the Occidental Women's Water Polo team will have their work cut out for them in 2007. Gone are seven seniors, including six starters, from last season's team that reached the finals of the Collegiate III National Championship and finished ranked #3 in the nation.
This year's pre-season coaches polls have Oxy ranked #6 in the nation. With a line-up that boasts just one senior and one junior it'll be an extremely young team taking to the water in 2007. The Tigers do return 2005 All-American/and 2x All-SCIAC award winner Danielle Montenegro ('08). Joining her are up and coming sophomores Sara Boehler, Kelly Curtin, Ashley Notti, Laura Simanonok who all saw significant minutes last season.
The Tigers will kick-off the season at the Chapman Invitational February 24-25 in Orange, CA. SCIAC play begins Wednesday March 28th at Taylor Pool vs. Whittier College.
