OCCIDENTAL - Occidental's women's water polo team hosted Cal Lutheran for the home opener of the 2018 season.
The Tigers fell to the Regals on Wednesday, 18-9.

Claudia Opperman was relentless on offense, creating space for her teammates on the perimeter, leading the team with 3 assists. Lori Berberian created multiple opportunities by drawing 5 exclusions. Hi'ipoi Lee also drew 4 exclusions to go with her goal. The senior continues to be "the adult in the water." "Hi'i communicates defensive switches and makes our offense run smoothly" said head coach Jack Stabenfeldt. "I'm excited to see Monica breakout for 5 goals at this point in the year. We'll need her to attack the goal well this weekend."
The Tigers have a young squad this year. Chandler Leubbers scored her first career goal in her first collegiate start. The first year also added an assist and a steal. The first-year Evans twins contributed with great counter defense. Cassidy had 2 assists and 2 steals, while Chelsea won 3 sprints. Hannah Pearson provided one assist and a steal.
Season impact: The Tigers fall to 0-2 on the season.
