LOS ANGELES — The Occidental women's water polo team's defense was outstanding, but the Tigers couldn't get enough offense together in a 9-1 loss to Claremont-Mudd-Scripps at Taylor Pool on Wednesday.

Mika O'Shea led the way for the Tigers with seven saves and four steals in the cage. The first year from Honolulu was effective coming out of the goal to shut down the Athenas' counter attack. She also had several blocks from center in big moments.

Chelsea Evans continues her impressive rookie season, winning 3 of 4 sprints. Claudia Oppermann and Hi'ipoi Lee were great in their defensive match ups, combining for seven steals.

Oxy's goal came on a shot by Lori Berberian on a great pass from Hannah Pearson

Oxy limited the Athenas to just two goals in the second half, its best defensive half of the year.

Next Game: Oxy is back in action on Saturday against Pomona-Pitzer at 3 p.m.
