Tigers Take to the Trail at UC Riverside Invitational
RIVERSIDE, Calif. (Sept. 27, 2008) – Occidental College’s women’s cross country team competed against numerous Division I and NAIA schools at the 2008 UC-Riverside Invitational this morning.
As a team the women finished in 16th, but were just two spots behind SCIAC foe Pomona-Pitzer and took third to Claremont-Mudd-Scripps.
Leading the Tiger pack was junior Grace Peck (19:21.3) who was followed closely by teammate Meghan Whalen (19:27.2). The next two finishers for Oxy were the freshman-senior tandem of Sadie Mohler (19:41.1) and Rachel Keylon (19:42.3).
Rounding out the top seven in the 5K were first year runners Eliza Dornbush (20:00.0), Anna Dalton(20:03.1) and Kassandra Griswold (20:23.3).
Additional Oxy runners included Felisha Castaneda, Alison Kjeldaard, Julia Giovannitti and Allison Irwin.
Occidental will take to the course again on Saturday, Oct. 18 when they participate in their first SCIAC competition of the season. Teams will meet at La Mirada Park at 9:00 a.m. to run.
