Devoney Sets Personal Best in Riverside

Runner of the Day: Sophomore Melina Devoney continued her impressive start to the 2014 season with a time of 18:31.9, 7th place overall finish, and first among NCAA Division III athletes.

Personal Bests: Devoney's set a new personal best with her time of 18:31.9, and set Oxy's fastest time at Riverside in the past 15 years.

Who Stepped Up: Charlotte Selters showed improvement from last week's race finishing with a time of 20:16.7 and Grace Bender showed her consistency finishing second among Oxy women for the second week in a row with a time of 20:13.8.

Against D3/SCIAC Competition: Oxy finished in front of SCIAC foes Whittier, Pomona Pitzer, and Caltech and ninth overall.

From the Coach: "We took a big step forward today," said Oxy head Coach Rob Bartlett.  "All a coach can ask for is for his team to get better every week and that's what they're doing.  They're figuring it out and realizing what they need to do in the upcoming weeks to improve in the future."

Season Impact: The Tigers continue to improve against NCAA Division III opponents and look strong in their second race.

Next Race: The Tigers run next in two weeks at the Stanford Invite on September 27.
