Oxy Cross Country Teams Earn Academic Awards

NEW ORLEANS — Both the Occidental men's and women's cross country teams and three individuals from the men's team earned USTFCCCA Academic Honors after posting outstanding marks in the classroom.

To be considered an All-Academic Team, programs must have compiled a cumulative GPA or 3.10 or greater and competed in at least five different meets with at least five runners representing their school at each. 

John Guzman AguilarHarrison Luft and Colin Smith were three of 246 NCAA Division III men to qualify as individual award winners as well by maintaining a 3.3 cumulative grade point average and finishing in the top 25 percent of their regional race.

Guzman Aguilar and Smith are Oxy's two best runners and two of the school's best student-athletes.Guzman Aguilar is a two-time All-American, two-time West Region champion and two-time SCIACChampion. Smith has made the NCAA Division III National Championships in four consecutive seasons.
