Oxy Women Finish 4th at SCIAC Multi Dual

LA MIRADA — Roxanne Valle finished 10th overall as the Occidental women's cross country team took fourth at the SCIAC Multi Dual at La Mirada Park on Saturday.

Valle, a first year from Azusa, completed the 6K in 22 minutes, 46.69 seconds.

From the Coach: "Roxanne looks to be ajusting quickly to the 6K distance and I'm excited to watch her race again at the championship meet in two weeks," Oxy head coach Rob Bartlett said. "The rest of the women moved up well during the race, but we paid the price for a hesitant start. We'll run much better next time if we make some small tactical adjustments."

Meet: The SCIAC Multi Dual is the first of two SCIAC meets during the season. It counts for 33 percent of the overall finish.

Team Finish: Oxy finished fourth behind Pomona-Pitzer (3rd), Redlands (2nd), and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (1st).

Oxy's Top 5:

1) Roxanne Valle 22:46.69 - 10th overall

2) Mel Devoney 23:27.83 - 24th overall

3) Natalie Gradwohl 23:28.50 - 25th overall

4) Eva Townsend 23:43.58 - 31st overall

5) Aria Blumm 24:13.58 - 41st overall

Next Meet: The Tigers compete at the SCIAC Championship Meet on Oct. 31 in Chino Hills.
