Valle, Townsend All-SCIAC at Championships

CHINO HILLS — Despite being sick for most of the week and missing practice on Friday, Oxy first year Roxanne Valle led the Oxy women's cross country team to a fourth-place finish at the SCIAC Championship Meet on Saturday, completing the 6K in 24 minutes, 6.31 seconds.

Valle was 12th overall, earning a Second Team All-SCIAC honor, along with fellow first year Eva Townsend, who finished 20th at 24:29.26.

Oxy finishes fourth in the overall SCIAC standings.

From the Coach: "What's exciting is that we had four first years in our top seven and three in our top five," Oxy head coach Rob Bartlett said. "We'll have everyone on the roster back next year and it's a young team that will only get better."

Claremont-Mudd-Scripps took first overall, with Redlands in second and Pomona-Pitzer in third.

Pomona-Pitzer's Maya Weigel was the overall winner, crossing the line in 22:13.23.
