Oxy Women's Cross Takes Third at SCIAC Race

CHINORoxanne Valle led four Oxy women in the top 20 as the Occidental women's cross country team took third at the SCIAC Championship Meet at Prado Park on Saturday.

The Tigers finish the conference season in third place after also finishing in third at the SCIAC Multi Dual on Oct. 1.

Valle, who has missed some time this season due to injury, placed 11th overall, completing the 6K in 24 minutes, 15.96 seconds.

Aria Blumm (24:52.14), Eva Townsend (24:57.58) and Fiona Pedrick (24:59.13) all finished in a pack not far behind her. Blumm was 18th, Townsend behind her in 19th and Pedrick in 20th.

"Our top four women were rewarded with All-SCIAC Second Team honors," Oxy head coach Rob Bartlett said. "For all four it was their highest ever conference finish."

Sabrina Thurber was Oxy's fifth scorer at 26th (25:23.95).

Pomona-Pitzer's Maya Weigel won the race with a time of 22:39.04.

Claremont-Mudd-Scripps won the meet and Pomona-Pitzer finished second.

Next Race: The Tigers are back in action at the NCAA West Regional Meet on Nov. 12 at Willamette.
