LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Occidental women's cross country runner Roxanne Valle is headed to the NCAA Division III National Championship Meet after an outstanding performance at the West Regional this weekend.
Valle was one of seven West Region individual at-large selections by the NCAA Division III Cross Country Committee on Sunday after finishing 11th at the NCAA Division III West Region Meet in Salem, Ore. on Saturday.
The national championship race is at "Tom" Sawyer State Park in Louisville, Ky. on Nov. 19. The women's race will begin at 11 a.m. Eastern time followed by the men's race at noon.
Valle is the first Oxy woman to qualify since Megan Lang did it in 2012.
The Oxy women's cross country team took sixth place in the West. Valle and Aria Blumm were recognized as All-West Region performers for finishing in the top 35.
Valle will be joined by the entire men's cross country team, which shocked the West Region by finishing second place to earn one of two automatic team bids.Follow Oxy Athletics on Twitter Sign Up for Newsletters Watch on Youtube Follow us on Instagram
