LOS ANGELES — Roxanne Valle led the Occidental women's cross country team to a second-place finish at the SCIAC Championship meet at Prado Park on Saturday.
The junior National Qualifier from Azusa crossed the line in ninth place overall at 23:36.55 earning her First Team All-SCIAC honors.
It was a solid all-around performance by all of the Oxy runners.
"It was the best performance by an Oxy cross country team in many years," Oxy head coach Rob Bartlett said. "They raced with a lot of heart and determination. We're all very proud of them."
No. 5 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps won the meet.
Oxy has a week off to prepare for what promises to be a very competitive West Region Championship at Pomona-Pitzer on Nov. 11. The Tigers can secure an automatic bid to the National Championships with a second-place finish and will be in the mix for an at-large bid if they finish as high as third. Oxy is currently ranked No. 4 in the West behind Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, Whitworth and Linfield.Follow Oxy Athletics on Twitter Sign Up for Newsletters Watch on Youtube Follow us on Instagram
