CLAREMONT — The Occidental men's and women's cross country teams opened their 2018 seasons with a triangular meet against Pomona-Pitzer and La Verne at Pomona-Pitzer on Saturday.

Both teams beat La Verne and lost to Pomona-Pitzer.

Oxy runner Brody Barkan won the men's race and Oxy women's runner Roxanne Valle placed fourth. Tristan Santos was fourth for the Oxy men.

"It was a great early season effort," Oxy head coach Rob Bartlett said. "It was good to get a race under our belts and we're excited about the next couple of weeks of training."

Next Meet: The Tigers are back in action on Sept. 15 at the UC Riverside Invite.
