Tigers Excel in the Classroom and on the Course

NEW ORLEANS, La. (March 3, 2009) – Both the men’s and women’s cross country teams have been recognized among the top student-athletes across the Nation both in the classrooms and on the courses as released today by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
While both the men and women earned honors as a team, junior History Major Grace Peck and freshman Geology Major Eric Kleinsasser were named to the Academic All-American Team as well. Peck is a three-time Academic All-American.
A total of 221 Division III female student-athletes received the 2008 USTFCCCA Cross Country All-Academic honor, while 131 male student-athletes were recognized.
The award honors those student-athletes who have succeeded both academically and athletically. To be eligible for the award a student-athlete must carry a minimum 3.5 cumulative grade point average and must finish in the top 25 percent of the field at their respective NCAA regional meet.
