LOS ANGELES — The Oxy baseball team earned its second blowout victory in a row on Sunday.
Netzel, a key component to Oxy's team on offense and on the mound, had a pair of homers, finishing the day 2 for 5 with four RBIs and two runs scored.
Fredrickson, Oxy's first baseman, was one of a bunch of Tigers who crushed the ball at the plate. He went 3 for 3 with a double, two runs scored and three RBIs. Jack Brancheau also had three hits, going 3 for 5, with a double, three runs scored, and an RBI.
The Tigers scored at least two runs in every inning but the third and sixth.
Oxy's pitching, which has been accurate and almost unhittable in most games this season, was good again on Sunday, giving up just two runs in nine innings of work. The Tigers threw four of their top five arms no more than three innings. Diego Ramirez earned the win as the starter with three innings and a run against him, Will Martel pitched a scoreless two, Tom Butler went the next three, giving up one, and then Netzel came on to close out the game for the final two innings.
Season Impact: Oxy improves to 14-4 on the season.
Puget Sound falls to 3-16.
Next Game: Oxy is playing Principia on Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Anderson Field. The contest was rescheduled from Sunday afternoon.
