Fredrickson Earns SCIAC, Recognition

LOS ANGELESJake Fredrickson was named the SCIAC Hitter of the Week on Monday and to the National Team of the Week on Tuesday after tearing the cover off the ball in a 3-0 series sweep of Pomona-Pitzer over the weekend.

Fredrickson, a sophomore first baseman from Shoreline, Wash., went 7 for 13 with three home runs, five runs scored, seven RBIs and a pair of doubles in the series. He's hitting .369 with a .506 on base percentage, five home runs, 28 RBIs and a .631 slugging percentage this season.

Oxy beat the Sagehens 9-7, 10-4 and 7-6.

The wins were huge for the Tigers, putting them back into the four-team SCIAC playoff mix at third place at 7-5.

Oxy is back in action with a three-game series against Caltech this weekend. The series begins in Pasadean on Friday at 3 p.m.
