MEXICALI, Mexico — Occidental College football is officially back.

Nearly one year after its season was cut short due to a depleted roster, the Tigers scrapped their way to a 20-0 season-opening win over CETYS in Mexicali, Mexico on Saturday.

Joshua Greaves threw for a pair of touchdowns, Oxy's defense wouldn't budge and the Tigers overcame adversity and uncertainty to get back in the win column.

Oxy had four interceptions with three of them coming in the first quarter. Sean Crotty had two, Garrett Pittman had one and Raffi Titizian had another in the fourth quarter.

Titizian also had a pick-six called back in the first half due to a roughing the passer penalty called on Oxy.

The Tigers' defense was hitting hard and popping the ball loose in the first half, forcing a handful of fumbles.

While Oxy's defense was flying around and taking the ball from the Zorros, the Tigers opened up a 13-0 with a pair of scores early in the first quarter. Greaves found Ezekiel Ebieshuwa on a screen pass from 15-yards out for Oxy's first touchdown and DJ Adams took a reverse 22 yards to the house for Oxy's second touchdown.

The Tigers held the 13-0 lead until the fourth quarter when Greaves threw his second touchdown pass to Seth Holston for an 18-yard score down the seam.

Oxy held on comfortably for the win.

Next Game: Oxy opens the season at home on Sept. 15 against Willamette at noon.
