Cal Lu Edges Oxy on Homecoming

LOS ANGELES — The Occidental men's soccer team fell 1-0 to Cal Lutheran on Homecoming at Jack Kemp Stadium on Saturday.

Brandon Kearney scored the game's only goal on a penalty kick in the 11th minute.

Oxy's best two chances came on a pair of headers in the second half. Elijah Remy sent a ball in to Liam Walsh that he put on the frame, but it was saved nicely, and Gabriel Barrett-Jackson had a header on the frame on a long ball played in off the left foot of Ryan Banard.

Cal Lu gave the Tigers a scare and nearly got its second goal in the 71st minute when Maxwell Sharpe had two consecutive shots from the 6-yard box blocked by the Oxy defense.

Oxy first year Scott Drazan played mostly well in his first collegiate start for the Tigers in the goal.
