Paredes Scores Winner in OT

LOS ANGELESAdrian Paredes scored the game-winning goal in overtime to lead the Occidental men's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over Lake Forrest at Jack Kemp Stadium on Saturday.

With less than 1 minute left in the first 10-minute overtime period, Sean Kim launched a deep throw in to the front post and Paredes headed it into the net for the game's deciding goal.

The Tigers stormed the field and ran into the stands to celebrate with their loyal fans.

Oxy recorded its fourth shutout in a row, led by defenders David Paine, Riley McCabe, Miles Robertson and Jack Meeker. Will Baltrus and Scott Drazan both split time in the goal.

The Tigers haven't allowed a goal since giving up two against Soka earlier in September.

Oxy dominated offensively with more shots, corners and chances to score. The Tigers ran the Lake Forrest squad, letting the heat and fatigue set in.

Oxy wingers Sean Kim and Matthew Teplitz had strong performances, as well as Tye Hernandez in the center midfield.

Season Impact: Oxy improves to 3-1-2 on the season.

Lake Forrest falls to 2-2-1.

Next Game: The Tigers are back in action at Redlands on Wednesday at 7 p.m. Oxy knocked out Redlands in the SCIAC Semifinal last season 1-0 on a goal from Nicolas Eble with 7 minutes left in the second half.

The Tigers' next home game is Saturday against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps at 7 p.m.
