Brian Wright enters his fourth year as Occidental College's men's soccer top assistant coach in the 2019-20 season.
Prior to joining the Occidental staff, Wright was an assistant coach for Caltech's men’s soccer team for two seasons from 2014-2015.
Wright currently serves as ECNL Director at FC Golden State, overseeing all elite teams in their club playing at this level.
A former Olympic Development Program (ODP) standout in southern California, Wright has been playing soccer since the age of five. He quickly knew soccer was his passion. His passion, combined with discipline and dedication, became the motivation to earn him a Division 1 soccer scholarship to San Jose State University. Wright has played in several youth tournaments throughout Europe and has received world-renowned training from some of the best coaches at the professional level. This influence helped shape his personal philosophy and style of coaching. At the age of 17, he was offered a professional contract with Belgian side Club Brugge. Wright received his Bachelor’s of Arts in Journalism from Cal State University, Northridge in 2007.
After capping off his collegiate career, Wright went on to train with the Los Angeles Galaxy as a reserve, followed by a stint in the Premier Development League (PDL). In 2016, he completed his master's in Coaching and Athletic Administration from Concordia University in Irvine. Wright currently holds a U.S. Soccer Federation “A” Coaching License.
