Oxy Swim Teams Fall at CMS

CLAREMONT — The Occidental College men's and women's swimming and diving teams both fell to nationally ranked Claremont-Mudd-Scripps in a dual meet on Saturday.

CMS' men's team is ranked 12th and its women are 8th.

"CMS is just in a different league than we are right now," Oxy coach Shea Manning said. "They are nationally ranked for a reason. That said, I think we can learn a lot about adaptability. We are typically very good at focusing on our own performances, but we struggled with that today."

Oxy's highlight was Jessica Robson winning her 28th consecutive SCIAC diving competition on Friday.

Caroline Chang was the runner up in the 100 and 200 breaststroke and Rose Seabrook was second in the 1,650 and 500 freestyle.

Both Oxy swim teams are back in action on Jan. 25 at Whittier.

"We are confident with our final four matchups in the coming weeks," Manning said. "With our toughest opponents behind us, we are looking forward to what should be tightly contested meets at against Whittier, Cal Lutheran, Redlands and Chapman."
