2014-2015: SCIAC Champion in the 100 and 200 breaststroke... All-American in the 100 breast with a fifth-place finish at the NCAAs... SCIAC -All-Academic... Won the 100 (1:00.24) and 200 (2:13.72) breaststrokes and swam a leg of the winning 200 medley relay (1:37.88) against Redlands on Jan. 10...Helped lead Oxy to its first win over La Verne since 2009 by winning both the 200 breaststroke (2:11.00) and the 100 breast (58.77) on Jan. 24...Won both the 100 (58.62) and 200 (2:09.06) breaststroke events against Cal Lutheran and Pomona-Pitzer on Jan. 31.

2013-14: National Champion in the 200 breaststroke... Named to the SCIAC All-Academic team for his winter season... Auto Qualifier for the NCAA National Championship in the 100 and 200 yard breastroke events...Won his second consecutive 100 yard and 200 yard breakstroke championships at the SCIAC Championship meet...Finished 3rd at SCIAC's in the 200 yard Indivual Medley.

2012-13: NCAA Division III Champion in the 200 yard breakstroke with conference record time (1:58.30)....SCIAC All-Academic... Finished 3rd in NCAA's in the 100 yard breakstroke...SCIAC Champion in the 100 and 200 yard breastroke...SCIAC Most Valuable Swimmer award...Deans list recipient. 

2011-2012: Finished 4th in the 100 yard breastroke and 2nd in the 200 yard breastroke at the SCIAC Championships...Posted NCAA "B-Cut" times in the 100 and 200 breast at the SCIAC Championship Meet, breaking the Occidental 200 breast record by over 5 seconds with a time of (2:02.70)...Deans list recipient.

Before Oxy: Graduated from Naperville Central High School where he swam for the Redhawks.  Helped team to Illinios State Championship in 2010, and set state 200 Medley Relay record in 2011.  Parents Mark and Carrie van Deventer, sisters Rebecca, Melissa and Jaime.
