Sophomores Dominate at Relands

REDLANDS —The sophomore boys were the stars of the day as the Tigers swim team beat Chapman in dominating fashion but fell to Redlands.

Austin Lashley's 100 butterfly time of 52.64 marks an in season best time for him and one of three overall first place wins of the day.

Fellow sophomore Chase Mitchell impressed with his 100 yard freestyle, swimming a 49.12 to take third overall.

Cody Hamane, also a sophomore, won the 100 breaststroke in a time of 1:00.29. Hank Franscioni, Sean Sullivan, and Dire Ezeh-Obloha, who swam a lifetime best time, all had in season best times in the event.

The three sophomores teamed up with senior William Westwater to take the 200 medley relay on a Redlands disqualification.

"This was a very encouraging meet for us. The men have swam consistently well throughout the season but many swam past their own expectations today. We are in a great spot going into championships," head coach Tom Iannone said.

The Tigers can be seen next at SCIAC Championships on February 18-21.
