ALISO VIEJO — Austin Lashley and Ben Sappey each had standout meets as the Occidental men's swimming and diving team took third against a competitive field at the Soka Invitational on Saturday.
Lashley, who was named the Collegeswimming.com SCIAC Swimmer of the Week already this season, won the 100-yard butterfly (51.54) and finished second in the 200 fly (1:59.04).
Ben Sappey wasn't far behind Lashley in the 200 fly (2:02.47), finishing fourth. He also took second in the 200 backstroke (2:01.93) and fourth in the 100 backstroke (56.44).
The Occidental men's team is off to a good start. Oxy has been ranked No. 9 in the CSCAA West-Midwest-South division Regional Rankings and No. 19 in the Collegeswimming.com National Computer Rankings.
