LOS ANGELES — The Occidental men's swimming and diving team opened the season at the Malibu Invite hosted by NCAA Division I Pepperdine at the Raleigh Runnels Memorial Pool. The Tigers competed in distance and diving events on Friday, and middle distance and sprinting events on Saturday.
Austin Lashley had a big meet, winning the 100-yard butterfly at 51.93, finishing second in the 50 fly at 23.65 and fourth in the 200 fly at 1:59.87.
Matthew Howard won the 1,650 freestyle at 17:27.58 and the 500 freestyle at 4:58.63, and took seventh in the 200 free at 1:49.39.
Aidan Seid was third in the 400 IM at 4:29.99.
Parag Kalay finished third in the 200 back at 2:00.82 with Seid right behind in him in fourth at 2:02.08.
Matt Weiser took thid in the 100 breast at 1:02.23 and fifth in the 50 breast at 28.27.
Zeke Sebastian was third in the 50 free at 22.73, third in the 100 at 49.50, sixth in the 200 free at 1:49.09, second in the 500 free at 5:03.51 and second in the 1,650 at 17:37.23.
"It's always fun to see them compete for the first time of the year," Oxy head coach Steve Webb said. "And with a large number of first years, it was fun seeing them compete in their first collegiate meet."
