Lashley Wins Second in 100 Fly

Commerce - The Occidental men's and women's swimming and diving teams continued competition for day 3 of SCIAC swimming and diving championships on Friday at Brenda Villa Aquatic Center.

The Tigers had 17 finals swimmers from a terrific morning session on Friday, as well as 7 total school records broken so far.

The highlight of the night was Senior Captain, Austin Lashley, winning second in the 100 Fly with a school record breaking time of 48.95, which is a NCAA 'B' Cut. The mark puts him in contention for the top 15 swimmers that qualify for NCAA DIII championships in each event individually. Lashley has been All-SCIAC in this event three years in a row, and has had an impressive meet thus far, with three new school records.

"We had a great night as a whole team today" said Oxy head coach Steve Webb. "17 combined finalists with 3 more records broken and both teams just missed the school relay records. It's great to see everyone dropping time and the whole team cheering each finalist on."
