CLAREMONT — The Occidental men's track and field 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams had a big day at the Rossi Relays, hosted by Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Saturday.
Oxy's 4x100 team (Jeh Johnson, Hugh Pegan, Gabriel Barrett-Jackson and Kyle Dalton), which finished fifth at the NCAA Division III National Championship meet in 2015 for All-American honors, shaved more than 1 second off its opening time from last Spring, running 41.84 seconds to finish in second place behind just NCAA Division II UC San Diego. Their opener last season was 42.99.
The Tigers' 4x400 squad (Nicholas Conklin, Pegan, Johnson and Barrett-Jackson) also improved its opening time and took first place, running 3:15.74. The Tigers were 3:22.25 this time last year.
